A Passion that Orders My Life!
1By night on my bed {this is her reference to the dream she had.} I sought him whom my soul loveth: I sought him, but I found him not. {in her dream, she was looking for her fiancé and couldn't find him. They had been together but for some reason he wasn't with her and this brought fear and anxiety to her.} 2I will rise now, and go about the city in the streets, and in the broad ways I will seek him whom my soul loveth: (Song of Solomon 3:1-2)
Passion is what drives many peoples lives.
Passion is defined as an object of deep desire or interest.
Passion is what drove Michael Phelps to win 8 gold medals in the 2008 Olympics. To achieve such a goal there were things he had to put in place attain it. He didn't just get up one morning and decide that today I will get 8 gold medals. No years in advance he had ordered his life in such a way that he took the steps to attain to the abilities to achieve such a goal.
So it is with the Shulamite's desire for her beloved. She had a passion for him that was driven with order. It wasn't just any man she loved but Solomon. To have his presence, she had to order her life in such a way as to enjoy his presence.
If you want to know God you can. But it doesn't just happen. There are things we must put in place (order, if you please) if we want to have a relationship with Him.
Here is an example of the order:
Jesus Christ is the door to God. (John 14:6) A relationship with Him is a must.
Daily reading of God's Word. (Romans 12:1-2) Our minds must be renewed by the Word of God on a daily basis.
Living in the light/characteristics/behavior of being born again. (Ephesians 4:21-24) We can't just live any way we want to and expect to enjoy His presence. Ephesians 5:8 sheds insight on this point, "For ye were sometimes darkness, but now are ye light in the Lord: walk as children of light:" We must walk in the nature of who we are in Christ; walking as children of darkness when we profess the nature of light is conflict and our life is out of order.
Our passion for Christ will order our lives. We hunger for Him and long for Him, we will arrange our life in such a fashion as to enjoy Him and know Him.
John 14:21 reads, "He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him." Jesus said that He will manifest Himself to the person that loves Him. But how do we show that we love Him? We have His commandments and KEEP them! In other words, "we order our life."
When we have a passion for Christ…it will order/arrange our affairs, relationships, desires, dreams, hopes to reflect such!
Until my next blog confabulation….God bless!
