CONFESSION OF 7 SINS and DANIEL'S CONCEPTS OF PRAYER!
This past Sunday I continued the series in Daniel chapter nine. Sunday morning, I preached from Daniel 9:1-19 concerning the prayer of Daniel.
There had been a change in leadership, of which, Daniel had served under 7 kings already and Darius made the 8th. He is now in his early 80's and has served as a captive for over 65 years. Faithful to God in a land he had lived in for all of his adult life, yet, he still considered himself a foreigner to this land.
This particular chapter starts out with the change in monarchies. As his custom was, he was praying, yet, in this chapter, we're given his prayer.
Of all the prayers I've studied in God's Word, Abraham, David, Jeremiah, Paul, next to the prayers of Jesus, there is no prayer recorded, I believe, that reveals the transparency and authenticity of a man's heart than this particular prayer.
Both the Sunday morning and Sunday night services, I preached from Daniel 9 drawing from his specific 548 word prayer. (that is 548 word prayer in English, not sure what it was in the language of his day?)
Sunday morning I preached form the 7 confessions of sin he made to God. I drew upon the seven usages of sin Daniel confessed. Each of the words describe a different facet of sin in how they are displayed so many times in our live. It's a great study and worthy of your time.
Sunday night, I preached on the five concepts of Daniel's praying. You will find them in Daniel 9:3-4. My what a move of the Holy Spirit in our service. The altar service was a very powerful time as everyone gathered around the altars to seek the Lord. God blessed in a great way and I praise the Lord for His mighty workings in the hearts and lives of individuals.
If you get the time, or better yet, make the time, study the prayer of Daniel in 9:3-19. In the coming weeks, I'll share more thoughts form this prayer as I'll be preaching on three other subjects that Daniel prayed about.
Until my next blog confabulation…God bless!
